1. Be ready to present your health card for verification of coverage. If you do not have health coverage by MB Health or through private insurance, a fee will be assessed and applied.
  2. If your health card is not valid or expired, an uninsured service fee will apply.
  3. If you currently have a family doctor IN OUR CLINIC, you cannot have another family doctor in the same clinic. To keep our clinic work environment healthy and fair, we do not transfer our patients over to different physicians within the same clinic. Only one meet and greet is allowed.
  4. No-Show or Late Cancellations: We do understand that emergencies do happen. If you need to cancel your appointment for any reason, please give us as much notice as possible. If you do not show up for your appointment and do not contact our office, it is within the clinic’s right to assess a fee for your missed appointment.
  5. Standard of care: we strive to keep a close follow-up on your health which requires careful periodical assessment of your health via history taking, physical examination, lab investigations, and diagnostic imaging, if applicable. In order to achieve this gold standard, in-person visits to the clinic are required and are much appreciated. Our clinic adopted the technology to perform virtual visits including video phone calls and telephone consultations. However, those technologies would not be feasible to assess every complaint/medical illness and are not meant to replace physical in-person visits.Similarly, relying on continuous prescription fax refills from the pharmacy without attending the clinic would abolish our ability to reassess your health and would likely lead to unnecessary polypharmacy. We remind you that our goal is to really care for you, please help us achieve this goal by committing to follow-up and periodic check-ups with your physician.
  6. Diversity of complaints: Sometimes patients are inclined to bring up multiple concerns/health issues in a single visit, however, this was found to result in a generally less productive visit as it may redirect the discussion from one topic to another without satisfactorily assessing each topic and without the physician being able to answer your questions fully. Please limit your concerns to one health issue per visit and book follow-up visits for any additional concerns. If you are not sure about which health issue would be given more priority, please enumerate your health concerns to your physician in a few words at the beginning of the visit, your physician will help triage your health issues and will handle the high-risk and more life-threatening issues first. The physician will also plan with you on handling the less serious concerns in subsequent visits.
  7. Respect for time: Our physicians do their best to provide a friendly environment, your social and mental aspects are as important to them as your physical health. We also realize that keeping a good patient-physician professional relationship is crucial to your care. While achieving this goal, please keep the time of your physician in mind. Your physician will be excited to hear that you had a pleasant experience on your recent trip overseas or to learn about your child’s graduation, but this can be done in a few words without going into many details as this may impact the time of your own visit, physician’s own time, and the time of other patients waiting for their appointment.
  8. Non-insured services: Some medical services are not covered under Manitoba health and thus may require additional fees. Check with the clinic for uninsured service costs.
  9. Confidentiality: All requests to release your personal medical information will only be honored after a written consent form is received.
  10. Use of cell phones, videotaping, and photography: There is absolutely no photographing or videotaping within the medical clinic. All patients are advised to have all electronic devices on silent mode while in the clinic.
  11. Behavior: Please be respectful to staff and other patients. Healing Hands Medical Clinic has a zero-tolerance policy for abusive language, intimidation, and threatening behavior. We planned to have our medical facility a safe environment for you, other patients, and our staff. If any inappropriate behavior occurred, the visit will be canceled, the patient will be asked to leave, and may be dismissed from the practice. Remember, disagreements may happen, but mature discussions will mostly resolve major issues.
